The call of the wild

Remember the post that I explained the Katherine Mansfield Project? So, in that project I decided to read on book per week, and the first book that I read I was lucky enought to have a great time. The Call of the Wild, by Jack London, presents us to Buck, a dog that has lived in the confort of the city and now, he has to deal with the wildness of the forests and strangers who force him to work every single day.

When we read about his journey, it is presented to us an amazing image of the USA and places where we may never visit, it is interesting to observe some landscapes through the eyes of the writer and the best part was that I was afraid that this was another story, that the poor dog gets scared and he is so cute and sweet that we feel sorry for him, however, nothing like this happens. Buck is an interesting character that is trying to understand who he is and also, the wildness which lives inside his heart.

“He was mastered by the sheer surging of life, the tidal wave of being, the perfect joy of each separate muscle, joint, and sinew in that it was everything that was not death, that it was aglow and rampant, expressing itself in movement, flying exultantly under the stars.”

Despite the fact that we are talking about a dog, everyone could relate to this story, because when he feels misfit we can relate to that pretty easly. I reccomend this book specially to those who have animals, because we can pay attention to the animals behavior and learn more about them.
