Downton Abbey and why you, your mother, your dog and everybody should see it

Today is the Emmy 2016, and I can't stop thinking that it is the last year that Downton Abbey will be among the nominees. It is very hard, for a person that doesn't watch it to comprehend how marvelous this serie can be, because if you try to give a synopsys it is just a story about a regular family living in a big house, but for those who watch it we know there is something more to it.

The series, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey between 1912 and 1925, depicts the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants. They have to deal with great events in history having an effect on their lives and on the British social hierarchy. Such events depicted throughout the series include news of the sinking of Titanic; the outbreak of the First World War, the Spanish influenza pandemic, and the Marconi scandal; the Irish War of Independence leading to the formation of the Irish Free State; the Teapot Dome scandal; and the British general election of 1923, the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, and the Beer Hall Putsch. The final season introduces the rise of the working class during the interwar period and hints towards the eventual decline of the British aristocracy.

As you can see it, for the amount of events, this story is full of depth, we can observe how an entire society reacts to different circunstances and events. I believe that this is what facinates me the most, because it is not every day that we can watch such a well written story, from beginning to the end, all the characters had their stories completed and well explained.

The three sisters that live in the house have completely different personalities, and you will probably fell in love with all of them at some point of the story. One of my favourite characters is Violet Crawlet (Maggie Smith) and besides her temper Mary Crawley will always have a room in my heart (Michelle Dockery).

I also bought a book some years ago, published by Intrínseca in Brazil that gave more details about their researches and how they built the characters relations, the fashion and even the soundtrack (You can find the full soundtrack inside their Wikipedia page, and they are easy to download in any website)! If you become a fan, you should look for the book and in Brazil, it is called O mundo de Downton Abbey and it totally worths buying.

I could talk about this serie forever, but I know that this could be so exausting LOL
I am very excited to read Belgravia by the same man who created the serie and I know that I will love it. Maybe this is going to be on of my next readings.

I hope you guys watch it and comment with me,
